Political correctness is not the same as respect.
You could watch what you say so as to not get sued for offending someone yet privately despise that person and their opinion. One problem with political correctness is that it stifles honesty.
The Bible is all for thinking before we speak, employing courtesy and tact but it also teaches us to ‘speak the truth with love’.
We need to learn to disagree better. To have not just the courage to say when we think someone is wrong about something but also the grace and humility to see that person as a fellow human being created in the image of God and as such worthy of respect and love.
Jesus spoke very plainly, often challenging people to change their ways, but He also laid down His life in personal sacrifice to help us do so.
Truth and love, a very necessary balance!
