Despite the wind and stubborn last flurries of snow, March has arrived and Ireland is bravely trying to move into Spring. It seemed to help somehow last weekend when Ireland beat England in the rugby! Things seem possible now.
This week, as an act of faith I left my motorbike with a friend for servicing. I resolve to believe that it will get warmer and one of these days I’ll get out for a spin.
I left it into Willie’s garage without a second thought.
Two reasons.
One, I know he’s fair and won’t charge me an arm and a leg.
Two, I know he’s absolutely meticulous and my old bike will emerge from that garage in better than showroom condition!
It kind of reminds me of Jesus.
I bring to Him my heart and life, somewhat worn and battered as they are, and badly tarnished with sin. He welcomes me in, cleans and fixes me up, and gets me on the road again.
All he asks is that I humbly trust Him, like a young child. ( Mark 10 v 14+15 )
Thinking about this as I was driving today, an old children’s hymn came to mind:
‘If I come to Jesus, He will hear my prayer.
He will love me dearly; He my sins did bear.
If I come to Jesus, happy shall I be.
He is gently calling little ones like me.’
Cool.
Amen
