Social Media

People post all kinds of things on social media, from their political opinions to what they’re having for breakfast.  Some things we might find bizarre or even offensive but there are also some real gems.
Like this one I came across last week.  The ‘Hillbilly 10 Commandments’ may not be everyone’s taste but I think it’s quaint and funny, and actually makes a very simple point.
God’s Rules make sense in any language.
Whatever our style of speech, dress or music, it is positive and powerful wisdom to practise deep basic reverence for our Maker, His world and His rules for treating our fellow human beings.
‘No swipin’ yer kin folks stuff’
‘Don’t be hankerin’ fer it niether’
That makes perfect sense.  Look where selfish greed and covetousness has got us!
I suggest we take a fresh look at God’s Rulebook today.  (The original list is in the Bible, Exodus chapter 20)  It’s not spoilsport, ‘wet blanket’ material.  It’s the way of peace and wellbeing through respect and order.
Well worth practising.
And even if we struggle to get it 100% right, God blesses and helps those who earnestly seek to trust and obey Him.
Y’all have a nice day now!

This week’s musical treat comes from Steve n’ Seagulls, a Finnish band who play famous heavy metal tunes hillbilly style.  This one was originally recorded in 1987 by legendary Belfast rocker Gary Moore, and is actually a salutary tale of what happened to someone who broke one of God’s key Commandments!
