It troubles me how in recent times the legacy of freedom Dr King and others struggled to win is being exploited to promote things the Bible calls ‘immoral’. The law is hijacked to silence truth and permit evil and cruelty as human ‘rights’!
Modern day propogandists have successfully convinced folk that this agenda is ‘inclusive’ and celebrates ‘diversity’ and that to think otherwise would be ‘phobic’ or ‘bigoted’. Really?
Last week the BBC reported on a couple in Oxfordshire who have been granted a judicial review to challenge the Church of England for one of its Primary Schools holding a religious assembly. They are objecting to Biblical accounts being presented as factual. Their case will be considered by the High Court this November. I wonder what Reverend King would make of that?
This summer we’re studying the Old Testament book of Daniel from six centuries before Christ. There is something chillingly familiar about how in ch6 jealous rivals abuse the legal system of the Medes and Persians to have this honourable man falsely condemned to be executed, thrown to lions no less!
It would seem that whatever systems we put in place there will always be some people eager to abuse them to oppose God, suppress His truth and persecute His followers.
Daniel is miraculously saved to record the messages entrusted to him, that evil will ultimately fail and those who practise it will be punished. The Sovereign God will not be stopped in His purposes and has something much greater in store for those who trust and faithfully serve His Son Jesus (Whose ministry is accurately foretold in this ancient text).
The ‘saints’, all those who practise faith and holiness will be granted to share in the eternal heaven-blessed kingdom of the Lord! Our eyes shall ‘see the glory of the coming of the Lord’ and we shall live and reign with Him.
